ruelontherocks: Southwest Arête (5.9)”The Buttermilks” at Bishop, CA First Career Free Solo     For a brief and beautiful moment, I felt complete clarity, full comfort and confidence in my body, and nothing else. It was neither a rush nor a thrill; it was simply perfect. I can come to understand why there are those who would want to chase that feeling. It’s a transient feeling: the moment you reach the top, it begins to fade. Some may find bigger rocks to prolong it. Others may continue on their course and cherish that fleeting moment. No matter where the rocks take me, this instance will forever remain a defining moment in my ever-progressing climbing career.
